Works as Advertised Jul 08, 2009
By Randy Ardie Davis
"Dulcimer Maker"
First, let me say that the product works just as advertised: it charges my iPhone 3Gs; the remote control works as it should; and the audio-out jack in the back allows me to play music from my iPhone through my desktop speakers.
Yes, when you dock the iPhone, you will see the message "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone." The iPhone will then give you the choice of putting the iPhone in airplane mode. If you choose "No," everything works just fine. If you choose "Yes," you effectively disable WiFi, phone, location services, etc. until you take the phone out of airplane mode.
One of the docking inserts provided with the charger fit my iPhone 3Gs just fine. However, if you put a protective cover on the back of your iPhone, the insert will have to be removed, or the cover will have to be removed for the iPhone to fit in the cradle. I chose to keep the cover on and use the charger without an insert.
Is this charger worth $20? Yes. It's certainly better than spending much more for the same or less functionality.
Pros: the charger charges; the audio output works; the remote works
Cons: the remote and the charger are made of inexpensive plastic. If you're looking for a status symbol of some kind, get something else.
Would I recommend this to a friend: Yes.

The best dock I've had so far for an ipod Feb 12, 2009
By Drumgirl I use this dock for my aerobics class and it is extremely versatile. The remote is very responsive, even at a 20' distance from the base, and has functions that can navigate you through any area of your ipod. I use it with my 2nd generation ipod touch (no adapter required), but it also works with all nanos and the mini. In addition, the dock features an 1/8" port on the back to plug into a stereo system or an amp. This was important for me since the earphone jack is on the bottom of my itouch and nano. I'm going to stock up on a few of these.

It is a good dock for ipod. Aug 07, 2008

I bought this dock and received yesterday. It works very well with my Itouch. As you know, Other docks are very expensive, and their remote contollers have NOT 'MENU' button. In this reasons, this is a very good dock. But, it looks like a little bit cheap plastic product. :) that's it.

To use with existing speakers Jun 02, 2010
By Remaining Anonymous ahaha
"flickr user and amatuer freelance"
I already have a number of great sound systems, and I've heard the quality of many ipod boom-box setups. They have the advantage of letting you interact and charge your ipod while listening to music, something you couldn't do with your own speakers, but basically still sound awful, with limited frequency response and a concentrated sound like they're coming from a box--they are.
With this, you can be free of buying a new system with poor speakers for your ipod by simply upgrading your old one. I like my stereo systems to have remotes, so now I have one that works with my ipod.
You can do ALL the menu settings from the remote, because it has arrow keys and an enter button. Besides the immediate volume and play controls, it also has specific keys for Mute, Repeat, and Shuffle. Very handy-I can use it as my alarm and then shut it off without getting out of bed.
Buy this and a 2.1 set of cheap desktop speakers, like those from Cyber Acoustics, and you'll have a setup the envy of i-homers at at half the cost.

Works adequately with iPhone/iPod Touch Sep 29, 2009
By Jeremy S. Bull Works quite nicely with iPhone/iTouch (unlike several other docks), but there is no adapter for these models. So it relies on the connector to hold it in the dock, which makes it harder to insert cleanly. But without the adapter the opening is big enough for an iTouch in a silicone skin. Remote works well for on/off, volume and switching tracks. On iTouch, can only navigate the music menus with the remote if you first unlock the device and select "Music" on the touchscreen. Had no problems with charging. Looks nice, seems reasonably well constructed. No noticeable degradation in volume or sound quality through the dock output compared with connecting directly to the iTouch headphone jack.
