3Works great, except for 1 (big) thing...  Sep 11, 2008 By J. Huner
Everything about this product works great except for one important item. First the good things:

1. The transmitter is strong and crisp
2. Works with the iPhone 3g
3. The arm is great - moves around to wherever you wish. Very sturdy.
4. You only need to insert the jack for hands free calling (only need the charger to listen to music).

Overall & originally, I was overjoyed at how well this product worked.

Now, the bad:

1. It doesn't swivel so that you can put the iPhone in landscape/coverflow mode... Not a big deal though... But what IS a big deal:
2. The unit actually "beeps" about once a minute. Sometimes you can hear it really well (listening to talk radio), and sometimes not at all (but usually you will hear at least one beep every five minutes or so). I wrote the MediaGate Tech Support, and their reply was:

"The reason for it beeping every 30 seconds or so is in order for the FM transmitter and FM radio to stay active and not in idle mode, it requires the unit to beep. This is a normal feature but unfortunately there is no way of turning this off."

I'm not sure if I am going to return this yet; but I have a feeling it could go one of two ways... Either it drives me insane, or I just start not hearing it like a grandfather clock. I'll try it for another couple days and see how I feel...

1Good from afar but far from good  Nov 17, 2008 By D. Lai
I was attracted to the transmitters multiple features, clean look and most of all the ability to take hands free calls for my 3G iPhone. The packaging was nice but it was all just for looks.

I live in Los Angeles and drive a Mitsubishi Lancer. The FM transmitter was horrible even within a 50 mile radius. To use the transmitter through your car stereo, you must connect the iPhone charging cable AND a short 3.5mm audio cord from the player to the transmitter. I hate this because I do not want to unnecessarily charge my iPhone and create battery memory that will shorten my batteries life span.

PROS:
1. Looks nice
2. Stays in place in cigarette lighter

CONS:
1. 4 preset FM stations cannot be changed
2. Rubber piece surrounding power adapter makes it difficult to remove unit from power source
3. Audibly BEEPS every 30 seconds to prevent itself from going on standby
4. Must increase volume 2-3 times normal level; loud static when disconnected or starting car
5. LED display angle
6. Unable to be set in landscape position from album flow view

Did not like this product. When I tried returning the unit, customer service was delayed and did not follow through with my return after 4 attempts. Eventually escalated to Amazon returns.

44 of 5 functions are AWESOME  Nov 12, 2008 By Jeremy Wadhams
I actually saw this unit in a mall kiosk (for WAY more than the Amazon price) then sought it out here. I think it's an outstanding product in a lot of ways.

The FM transmitter is on a par with any I've used. Good power, good controls.

The 3.5mm and iPod style plugs both work...but not together. For some reason my iPhone (2G, 2.1 firmware) will play if just the 3.5mm jack is plugged in, or if the iPod jack is plugged in and the 3.5mm jack is totally unplugged from both the phone and the transmitter. And the phone function only works with the 3.5mm plug. So the tradeoff I've made is that most days I only use the 3.5mm plug, so I could take a call if I needed to, but my phone isn't charging.

The one part that isn't totally satisfying is the stand part. When I bought it, I really thought I wanted a thing to hold my iPhone display up (vertically only!) next to my stereo controls. The problems with it, now that I've used it, are:

1) First and foremost, you're using a round peg in a round hole (your cigarette adapter) to try to keep a big topheavy brick from falling sideways. It ain't gonna happen -- any speedbump or sharp turn is going to knock the whole thing over (although it rarely falls out of the socket or stops transmitting, it just looks stupid).

2) The arm is slightly flexible, but not enough to cope if your car is layed out poorly. In my wife's PT Cruiser, the only cigarette adapter teams up with this to put the iPod right blocked by the gearshifter, so it's basically unusable. In my Dodge Charger, it puts it in an awesome position. Your mileage may vary.

Anyway, I would definitely buy this product again, if I was confident it would cooperate with my car's dashboard layout. And if I didn't want to just buy a stereo with an aux 3.5mm input (which is of course more convenient and higher audio quality). And if there was one without the rigid arm, next time I'd probably go that way.

5Product is Great, if you can get the real one!  Jul 21, 2010 By Kari
I own 3 of this device from MediaGate USA, MG-IKIT5N1, and the upgrade Version MG-MKIT5N1, and one of the device is from one of the first 3 listing company (eXcity,XXplanet, Xedia-Xart) that sell really good price...but... it is not the same product from Mediagate, I am very disappointed from Amazon that they allow 3th party company selling fake item under the real product, my friend recently also got 2 pcs fake one here and return to them right away once they compare with my Mediagate one, so buyer beware....Check with your seller before you purchased

2I Should have waited  Jan 19, 2009 By M. Ivey
This is ok, but doesn't work well with my iPhone. Sure it charges it, but the FM transmitter gives an annoying "BEEP" over my radio every 15 seconds when I use it. I have to use the old fashioned tape adapter to hear my music uninterrupted.
