3Go Hard-wired if possible  Feb 01, 2009 By Lady in Jax "Michelle"
***PROS:
~Versatile: can be used with any FM radio; not just in the car.
~The transmitter is compact and digital.
~Charges iPod in the car when hooked to lighter outlet.
***CONS:
Tried over 20 radio stations with weak/no broadcasting on my FM dials-
~In the car, FM the transmission is quirky and fades out and/or provides signals with static; have to change stations periodically, even when travelling only 10 miles or less.
~At home (immobile location), signal still quirky even with unit within inches of FM antenna.
~ Easy to plug into iPod & car outlet, but very difficult & frustrating to find stations.
***OTHER COMMENTS:
I've seen a lot of complaints about all kinds of iPod FM transmitters. (Even $80 transmitters have poor reviews with same complaints.) Perhaps there's a limitation on frequency output strength for security reasons and/or government FCC regulations (understandable), but, again (even with this little gadget right next to stereo antenna), signal is quirky.
***GO WITH A HARD WIRE OPTION:
~At Home: For using iPod (or any other audio equipment with headset output jack, i.e. cassette Walkman or portable CD player) with home stereo, I suggest getting a "Retractable 3.5mm to Composite R/L Audio Stereo Cable" for hard-wiring to your stereo. (Mine cost about five bucks including shipping.)
~In Car: If you've got an older car with cassette player, perhaps try a cassette adapter. Sony makes one (model CPA9C) with great reviews for about fifteen bucks, including shipping. I might buy it.
***SUMMARY: In a nutshell, I suggest avoiding FM transmission, and looking for hard-hire options to listen to your iPod in your car & at home.
All in all, regarding this transmitter in particular, my overall score is 3 since it's a good value compared to other FM transmitters due to price & versatility.

4Works as advertised  Mar 26, 2010 By Wayne
Very small unit fits bottom of iPod nicely. Is simple to set up and use, nice feature is it keeps the iPod fully charged. When connected it removes control of volume from iPod, all control is with radio. Music sounds very good, I listen to Rosetta Stone audio which is all speaking, it seems to overdrive the audio causing "s" sounds to crackle somewhat. I recommend this unit.

4Good to go  Feb 23, 2009 By Roger B. Knight
Product is easy to use, even though it comes with virtually no documentation. My only complaint is that the charger, when used with the ipod, creates a humming noise. Therefore, you can't really charge the ipod and listen to the music at the same time. It does not affect any other channels, though.

5This is great!  Jul 08, 2008 By M. Thompson
I used to think having an Ipod meant that you walked around with earplugs in order to hear your music. This product has completely changed the concept. The FM transmitter is tiny enough to fit in a pocket and I can listen to my Ipod in the shower, on the back deck, in the living room, anywhere I have an FM radio. Being able to use my car speakers and charge the Ipod up at the same time is fantastic. The reception is great and it is extremely simple to set up. I love it.

1Won't Charge iPhone  Aug 01, 2009 By Ray Campbell
I needed an iPhone charger for my car because I had a long road trip coming up. I searched for "iPhone charger" on Amazon and found this. Based on prior sad experiences, I carefully read the fine print which said it works with an iPhone. I ordered it, received it, and plugged it in. Message pops up informing me that this item is not designed to work with an iPhone and will not charge my iPhone. Whoops - time to go on the road and I have no charger.

Having now spent time ordering this, and having spent time running around time to find a replacement that does work, I'm now faced with a choice of spending still more time returning this or just tossing it into the back seat and forgetting the whole experience.

It threatens the whole value proposition of Amazon when they clearly say a product will do certain things that it does not do. Refunds are not really a good option for most people; the only real remedy is to shop somewhere where the product descriptions match reality.
