Weak signal Apr 16, 2009
By A. Short All previous Griffen FM transmitters I've owned have a port for providing power while using the device. There is not a connection for an on-going power source while using the latest transmitter for the 4th generation iPod Nano. Because the external power is not there to boost the signal, the radio signal is weak. Power lines and traffic signals cause static. SmartScan tends to find stations that have a medium strength whereas it should be finding an unused frequency. This product is only recommended for use at home or work, not in the car.

Poor audio Apr 24, 2009
By Texttim This device pairs well with the 4g Nano and looks good. The idea of this device however is far better than in practice. The audio is poor to fair, with frequency availability and channel spacing in a metro area hard to tie down to anything close to reasonable. Perhaps a rural location would prove better. If the audio and transmission systems could be improved, this would be a fantastic addition to the Nano.

Works well, good sound, good way to listen to your music Jun 02, 2009
By M. Staylor I purchased this to use on long trips and it has exceeded my expatiations. It seems to have the power to override even stations on the same channel it selects unless they are too strong. Then you just simply select a new channel.
I used it first on an 8 hour trip. Yes, during the 8 hour trip I had to switch stations a number of times to get a clear station but that it to be expected when you are traveling through dozens of cities and towns on a long trip. The iPod battery at the end of the trip was still showing half charged so that was good.
I liked that the unit is totally wireless and using the iPod with it is the same as without it. The only recommendation of improvement is it would be nice if it had a port on the bottom to charge the iPod at the same time but in most cases it wouldn't be needed anyway. Plus, that then adds a cord to it which it then is no longer wireless.
Sound quality was as good as a regular strong FM station. No problem with that. Occasionally as you travel around town or on long highways you can hear some background static or interference from the background station but it usually goes away quickly, and if not, simply select a new clear channel. Selecting clear station it does that for you very well by simply pushing one button and it finds the next clearest channel.
These units can be found a many audio places including WalMart, but Amazon has the best price and you can get it sometimes with free shipping. A bargain!

"big fan"
Signal from Transmitter would cut out sporadicaly - ended up returning the item. Also cannot charge iPod while using the Transmitter since the transmitter uses the same port as the charger

Cute, doesn't work well Oct 18, 2009
By C. Pulido I bought this transmitter because I loved the fact that it was wireless and nice looking. I live in Southern California and it is extremely difficult to find an available frequency. I did not expect it to work perfectly, but literally all I get is static every 30 seconds. I think the transmitter would work okay in a less heavily populated area.
