| | Description | High-Fidelity Sound Design Optimal For All DJs High sound quality has been achieved with the driver unit featuring a diaphragm of optimal material and thickness, a voice coil for good balance from bass to treble, and a large, high flux magnet 2 in diameter. This enables clearly catching dance music beats (bass drums and cymbal rhythms) needed for DJ performances. Superior sound insulation makes it easy to cue up the next track, even in noisy clubs and discos. The insulating material inside the headphones was also carefully selected and ear pads provide a tight seal, contributing to clear reproduction of mid to high sound ranges with subtle nuances. These headphones are also suitable for professional use in studios. Snug Fit For Comfortable Use Even In Long Sessions The development of the Pioneer HDJ-2000 stems from numerous requests from top DJs around the world desiring headphones with: Exceptional high-quality sound that clearly and accurately reproduces audio Comfortable fit to minimize fatigue from long periods of use High durability that withstands demanding conditions and touring Accurate Sound Quality The headphone is uniquely designed to improve sound quality and reliability-perfect for use in DJ environments and studios. Additionally, the headphones have an enclosed over-ear design with ear pads that seal around the user?s ears, reducing ambient noise and providing superior sound isolation for tracking in a loud club environment or a studio. Brilliant Headphones Aug 16, 2009

As an owner of a pair of HDJ-1000's and a happy owner at that, I was excited to purchase this upgrade. First off, sound: the detail in all brands of music- electronic especially- is apparent from the start. There is clarity not present in the HDJ-1000's and that is partly due to the 2nd aspect of the headphones: their fit. These headphones enclose your ears, as opposed to pressing right up against them as the HDJ-1000's do. The design of the HDJ-1000's is solid; however, for long spans of listening or monitoring audio/DJ'ing, they do get uncomfortable. This new pair are a vast improvement because the earpiece surrounds your ear and use memory foam and a "protein leather" to add a bit of plush to the whole affair. As a result new design is easy to wear for hours on end.
So, these are great headphones, but the price point is rather high... and that is because of the build quality. These headphones are constructed almost entirely of metal, a magnesium composite as said by documentation. The build quality is unheard of in the industry, these are not delicate studio or DJ headphones, these are the highest build standard I have ever seen in a pair of headphones period. They can travel with you, get dropped by you, tour with you and they will hold up to it.
These are the best headphones on the market for their reproduction of audio and the audio components are enclosed in a construction that will ensure these headphones will be with you for years.
Please enjoy.

In The Mix Apr 28, 2011
By DJ_XEL I just received my HDJ-2000's today, and my first impression is exactly what I thought they would be. I have been a DJ off and on for the past 27 years. I have primarily used Sony over the course of my career. I have used the MDR-V202, MDR-V600, and the MDR-V700. For a long time, the MDR-V700's were the standard for club dj's. I recently started having a problem with them, the volume started fading in and out, after two years of use. After reading reviews, and watching a few YouTube clips, I decided to give the a go. The specs are spot on with the MDR-V700's, but the difference is that the HDJ-2000's have a more balanced sound. The mids and highs are a little more pronounced, while the lows have a little more warmth than the 700's. I have read some reviews from people slamming the HDJ-2000's.These headphones are made for use in clubs and studios. They are not designed to be used with your iDevice or mp3 player. Those devices do not have enough power to run the 2000's correctly. The output of the 2000's is 3.5 watts, which is more than your mp3 player can handle. The overall comfort of the 2000's are much better than the 700's. I just completed a 2.5hr set, and I don't feel fatigued, nor do my ears hurt. My tinnitus is not bothering me nearly as much as with the 700's. I also found myself using the 2000's at a lower volume. I am sure the sound will get even better after the burn in period. If you are looking into these headphone, you should also check out the Pioneer DJ Forums, for more feedback from other dj's and producers.Overall, these are a good investment for the aspiring dj(if you have the money), Pioneer has done a good job with the 2000's, and I really wouldn't expect anything less from their dj division,Pioneer has been producing quality dj equipment for years. Don't try them because your friend has them, or the hottest dj has them. try the 2000's because it is a quality product, and should last for many years to come, just like their mixers and cd players.

2nd day impression - These are very nice! Dec 20, 2009

Like most DJs I have used many different headphones. I have 2 broken pair of the HDJ-1000s in a box and was meaning to get them repaired as both sets broke at the hinge area. After reading the reviews I knew I had to try the new version, the HDJ-2000s, and they did not disappoint. Love at first listen... They sound better than any other pair I have owned, and it is a lot easier to tell when a track has been hyper-compressed, if the mids have a little too much highs, etc... The clarity and separation was very nice for "DJ" headphones. These babies can be used for DJing and production and claim a spectral range of 5Hz - 30KHz. I have been using them for my iPhone, while driving, while taking skype calls, and while listening to iTunes through audio interface on laptop. Basically everywhere. Time will tell about breaking at the hinge area, but they look very well engineered and they feel solid. Pony up the $ and be ready to listen to the beautiful waves in all their glory.

The HDJ-2000s don't live up to the hype. Mar 24, 2010
By Rick Sun I really wanted to like the HDJ-2000 headphones. When the package arrived at work today, I was thrilled, and couldn't wait to take them home. Once I did get them home, I found myself frowning for than smiling. My nearly 15 year old Denon AHD-950s have begun to have issues with the cord, and thus I intended to replace them with the HDJ-2000s.
My old Denon set sounds so much better than these. Where my Denons come through with good, clean bass response, these Pioneers do too. But, where the high end and balance in general is concerned, my old Denons signigantly out perform the HDJ-2000 set. As another poster stated, they are flat and dull. You may not notice this is you had not used a better set, but I assure you, there are better headphones out there.
Please note that I made my comparisons using the same audio tracks in seamless loops, using the same amp, at the same volume and this pair, compared to my old set, almost sounds mono, as if all the frequencies are bleeding into eachother. It's just a muddy mess.
I will be exchanging these for another pair, most likely Denons. Make no mistake, this is a good headphone, but not great. They're over rated, over priced, and under performing in my experience.

Simply the best! Dec 23, 2009

Don't let the price tag scare you. These are the best pair of dj headphones you can get currently. So, it's well worth it. All of the most important features are present here: 1. Durable? YES, made of metal! 2. Comfortable? Absolutely, you don't feel them at all! 3. Sound is good? YES, it's absolutely awesome (lacking on the low end just a little bit, but still VERY VERY VERY good).
