Excellent solution for single sided deafness May 07, 2010

This is a sturdy headphone using 1/4" stereo plug that will last longer than the 1/8" version. It converts stereo to mono internally. It is comfortable and blocks out ambiant noise well.

Wonderful solution for listening to music with single sided deafness Jan 21, 2011
By Wandered One A search for SSD singlesided deafness and headphones turned up very few useful hits but I ordered these and am very pleased.
These headphones have absolutely terrific sound! The stereo channels are combined and the sound is very crisp with good bass and treble. It feels like "accurate" sound. The circumaural padded design is comfortable and also isolates my music from coworkers and enhances the bass.
I had previously used the Cochlear BAHA audio adapter, but can't find it now. As I have hearing in one ear I looked for another solution and found these far cheaper than the Cochlear adapter. And of course it sounds better.
Another affordable alternative is an in-the-air earbud: the ScanSound 1-Bud Pro. It is great when you need something smaller but the Stanton Pro 300 with its much larger driver is much better sound.
For either SSD or other one-ear listening purposes these headphones are no compromise and deliver a terrific listening experience!

No better headphone for recording vocals, instruments, and strings Feb 01, 2008
By L. Bell You can never hear your pitch correctly with double headphones. These headphones are perfect for recording solo instrumentalists, ensembles, solo vocalists, and backing vocal groups. There is simply too much temptation with dual headphones for the talent to slip the other ear on (listening with one ear is inherently annoying) BUT when you do that you cannot hear the right pitch you're creating. Just a fact of acoustics, you will be "headphone flat". Many vocalists in the 60's and 70's had this problem, you can hear them consistently being an eight tone flat by wearing double headphones.
It's annoying to listen with one ear off, but get used to it for anything remotely approaching perfect pitch.

Stero in one ear DJ Headphones May 30, 2011
By Markus T. These headphones come with a 1/4 inch plug so you will need to buy an adapter to use with most devices, but the sound quality is good, they sound great. Also if you should be hearing challenged in one ear,(deaf), these are perfect for gaming or just listening to music. The quality of build could have been a little better, but for the price it is still a good buy. I would reccomend these to anyone. A good buy for the money.

Nothing else like it, great for single sided deafness Oct 08, 2011
By Lorax I have single sided deafness, and when I'm doing audio mixing work I need headphones that combine both channels into my good ear; otherwise I won't be able to adjust the levels of the sound going into my nonfunctional ear.
These headphones are totally perfect for this use: The 1/4" right angle plug somehow stays plugged in to the field mixer extremely well even when I jostle things around. The coiled cord is the perfect length for devices worn on or near the body. And the headphones are decently comfortable, decently rugged.
The one issue is the tonal quality. These are not audiophile grade by any means and the sound is noticeably thin and distorted (compared to top end headphones). So I cannot judge tonal qualities of what I'm mixing, which is becoming an issue the deeper I get into mixing. For that reason I'm looking for other single sided options with higher quality. If anyone knows of any please let me know. I'm going to try the One Good Earbud/ScanSound ones, but what I'd really like is a headphone cable with a passive crossfeed network built in, which I could solder onto some known-good MDR-V6 headphones or similar.
I'm sort of an electrical geek so I opened these up to see how they mix the two channels together. It turns out they do it in a way that's a bit "iffy": They simply short the tip and ring of the connector together. Anyway, the point is that the different sound quality this produces on different devices may come down to how well the amplifer topology handles the kind of abuse these headphones dish out. As most people know, you shouldn't use a Y connector to sum two signals together, and these headphones effectively have a Y connector built in.
One surprise was what looks like a pair of back to back diodes across the driver. I think the purpose of these is to limit the signal level so that people don't damage their hearing, or to protect the driver from strong signals.
