This product does work for iPhone. It is a quality product and it works well. My apologies to those who read my previous comments and made their decision based on that. My apologies also to the company that produces this product.
What I didn't realize was that the case that I'm using for my iPhone will not let the iExtend fit into the slot. So, after I removed the case, the iExtend worked just fine. So the comments below are not relevant any longer. **UPDATE**
This iExtender does not work for iPhone. I received my order in a timely manner but the extender will not fit the iPhone and I've tried it on several other iPhones other than my own. This also comes with an extender for the plug-in for a set of ear buds or ear phones. While I liked the idea, the plug in was "sheared" off at the top. I'm assuming that this was done by machinery in the manufacturing process.
This may work on an iPod but I have not tested it.

I needed to find something for my Logistec Stereo so that my Iphone 4 can fit and be heard nice and loud and this little adapter did the trick.
Now I can enjoy listening to my Iphone on my stereo and hear the music nice and loud and not have to keep removing my cover on my phone.

 Works... but aesthetics not great for Otterbox May 11, 2010

I bought this so I can connect my iPhone 3GS (which has an Otterbox on it) to a GOgroove FlexPod. It works, but I hope I have it on right. The extender does not work with an Otterbox unless you take the plastic covering off. The problem: it's not obvious at all how to take the plastic box off. It appears to be glued on. I wrote customer service but all they kept saying is "use tweezers". I certainly couldn't figure out how to use tweezers to get it off. I ended up using a hammer, screwdriver and brute force to crack it open. Once I got the case off, though, inside were just the metal pieces, with no covering at all. I've plugged it into the iphone and the Gogroove and it seems to work. I am really happy I found a solution to using an Otterbox with external devices. I'm still not sure, tho, whether there might have been a more elegant way of getting the case off the iExtend and hope the fact the electronic connections now have no case and are exposed to the elements doesn't cause some problems in the future. If not for the case problem, I would have given 5 stars because this extender seems to be solving a problem that all Otterbox users must have. (I wish Otterbox included an extender with their product.)

UPDATED...I was contacted by this company and they were very helpful and I am able to use the iextend with my outter box once the black case was removed.

The best little accessory I have ever purchased for my iPod and iPhone. It allows me to now connect my devices to speaker docks and extend the base so that I don't have to take off the cover. I found this product to be both better than and cheaper than the sendstation and it comes with a slim right elbow adapter that allows you to access the Audio out even on your iPod Nano 5th Gen. Definitely value priced and worth every penny. HIGHLY recommend!
