I agree that the tools they give you are a joke. Mine broke immediately. I ended up having to use a sharp knife and a flathead screwdriver to finally get the thing apart.
The instructions were pretty terrible too, be sure to look that up online.
But as far as the battery goes, it seems to be working fine.

I just wanted to let everyone know this battery is NOT for the ipod classic 160. Its not powerful enough. Its not advertised properly. I did advise the company that sold me this product, so hopefully it will get changed. If it does not, then that is pretty sad, but at least someone is letting you know.
It did run the ipod 160, but drained immediately, and didn't last long at all.
I'm sure it will work fine with the ipods it is intended to work for. Its just not powerful enough for the 160.
If you're only complaint is about the FREE TOOLS, then that's a pretty silly complaint, and I'd direct that at ipod. I use eyeglass screwdrivers to pop mine, but the ipod is not made to be opened by you, so its not the tool's fault.

Battery seems as good as an original iPod battery. The install tool to open up the iPod was pathetic and worthless. I broke both of them before even budging the iPod open. I had to spend as much as this battery to buy a quality install tool from another company in San Antonio.

I replaced the battery in my 80gb 5th gen iPod video. The battery lasts longer than the original and I had no problems with the install. The tool may be cheap but it works fine. The key is to not try to pry the iPod case open as the tool is made of very thin plastic and that's not what it's meant for. Just insert the tool between the front panel and the back casing and slide it down gently. The iPod will pop apart and you won't risk bending the metal casing. I hope this helps some of you before breaking the tool or deforming your iPod case.
